Research, Researchers, Results! Pancreatic Cancer

Saturday 30 June 2007

Pancreatic CancerHi Readers! Please find a short description on pancreatic cancer with its origin and incidence details.

Also brief information on pancreatic cancer research can be found.

Origin! Pancreatic cancer is a malignant tumor within the pancreatic gland.

When cells in the pancreas grow abnormally and spread to form cancerous cells or tumors, pancreatic cancer originates.

Gosh So Dangerous! This is considered as one of the most difficult cancers to treat as it is asymptomatic, undetectable by a physical exam and progresses quickly.

Note that most patients die within 6 months of diagnosis. These factors also limit the amount of data available for research, hindering significant advances in the understanding of the disease.

You must know this! In the United States pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death and worldwide the fifth leading cause of cancer death.

Cancer of the pancreas accounts for only about 2% of the cancers diagnosed each year. However, making it a leading cause of cancer death the five-year survival rate is less than 5%.

Incidence! In the United States the pancreatic cancer incidence is 50-90% higher in African Americans than in any other racial group.

Clothes Too Tight! Check Out Early Symptoms Of Ovarian Cancer

Saturday 30 June 2007

Ovarian CancerHello Women! Looking for a very quick reference on Ovarian Cancer?

Then your search ends here.

Find out what is ovarian cancer, its causes, statistics and fearing early symptoms of the disease in just a short reading. Here’s the information.

Ovarian cancer is the most common cause of cancer death from gynecologic tumors in the United States. Ovarian cancer is a malignant ovarian neoplasm (an abnormal growth located on the ovaries).

In women, ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death. The exact cause is usually unknown, meaning it is idiopathic.

Careful! Early disease causes nonspecific, minimal or no symptoms at all. Therefore, most patients are diagnosed in an advanced stage. Overall, prognosis for these patients remains poor. Standard treatment involves aggressive debulking surgery followed by chemotherapy.

Older women at high risk! It is estimated that more than half of the deaths from ovarian cancer occur in women from 55 to 74 years of age and approximately one quarter of ovarian cancer deaths occur in women from 35 to 54 years of age.

The risk for developing ovarian cancer appears to be affected by several factors. The more children a woman have, the lower her risk of ovarian cancer. Early age, at first pregnancy below 30yrs also lowers the risk.

Is there an Alternative Treatment for Colon Cancer Cure?

Saturday 30 June 2007

Colon Cancer CureIf you have colon cancer, the next step for your doctor is to find an appropriate treatment option for the colon cancer cure according to your condition.

The doctor will probably talk to you about various treatment options.

Surgery, don’t panic! Relax!

The main treatment for colon cancer cure is to remove the tumor by surgery.

Chemotherapy is the process of treatment with drugs that kill cancer cells and is often used when there is a risk that the colon cancer will come back.

Radiotherapy (treatment with x-rays that kill cancer cells) may be used either before or after surgery for rectal cancer. Sometimes both radiotherapy and chemotherapy are used after surgery. [Colon Cancer Treatment]

Doctors use a system that puts colon into 1 of 4 stages. These stages are referred to as stage I, stage II, stage III and stage IV.
