For the ovarian cancer treatment, there are certain factors that are to be kept in your mind for best treatment.
They are: If you are planning for children or not, stage of health, personal facts.
According to some studies, the ovarian cancer treatment can be given to older women. Before you take a decision be sure that you understand the side effects and risk factors of the treatment.
Ovarian cancer treatment is done by surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Among them, two or some times three treatments are done to cure this disease.
Surgery depends on your health, whether your plans to have children or not or how much area the cancer has spread. For ovarian cancer, there are different types of surgery. The names for the surgery are given based on the organ involved in operation.
The removal of uterus is known as hysterectomy. As there are two ovaries, the removal of one ovary or both may involve. If one is removed, then it is called as unilateral Oophorectomy and if two are involved then it is called as bilateral Oophorectomy.
Heart cancer is rare and develops in the tissues of the heart. You can get heart cancer due to some risk factors. They are:
- Tobacco: The use of tobacco or near to tobacco smoke increases your risk factor. Smokers have more risk than the non-smokers. 180, 000 Americans die due to cancers related to the use of tobacco. If you make use of tobacco for chewing you will get mouth cancer.
- Chemicals: If you are working in chemical factory, then you have higher risk. Exposure to benzene, nickel, vinyl chloride and cadmium can cause heart cancer.
- Bacteria and viruses: Infection due to viruses and bacteria increase the risk of heart cancer.
- Family history: You can have higher risk for cancer development with family history of cancer.
The heart tumor does not cause any minor symptoms or life threatening symptoms. But the tumors can cause blood pressure decrease due to bleeding, abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure.
Heart murmurs develop near the heart-valve. The myxoma degenerate into small pieces and pass through the blood stream blocking the blood flow and arteries.
The symptoms depend up on the organs affected and the emboli clots goes or not.
The primary liver cancer treatment depends on your personal preferences, overall health, age and feelings.
Elimination of the liver cancer treatment completely should be the goal of any treatment.
As the palliative care makes you feel comfortable and relieves the pain, it is appropriate to treat the cancer.
Primary liver cancer treatment in adults:
Surgery is the best way to treat the cancer. The area on the liver where the cancer is found is removed completely. The cancer can recur elsewhere in the liver tissue even after the surgery with in few days.
Alcohol injection is given to you either through the skin or directly into the tumor during the operation. The cells die as the alcohol dries out all the cells of the tumor. Only one injection is given at the treatment.
For better result a series of injections has to be given. The side effect with alcohol injection is leaking of the alcohol onto the abdominal cavity or the liver.
Radiofrequency ablation is used to destroy the malignant cells with electric current in the radio frequency range. Several thin needles are inserted to make small incisions into the abdomen by using the ultra scan or CT scan as guide.
If you are woman with the problem of breast cancer, you can cure it by early detection.
For breast cancer detection, three things are important:
- Let the doctor check your breast
- By having regular mammograms.
- Check your breasts every month by yourself
By doing these things, you can find out the cancer as early as possible. You can treat the breast cancer if you find out the cancer as early as possible. Out of 100 women, 90 women whose breast cancer is found early will be cured.
A mammogram is the most effective way for breast cancer detection as early as possible, up to 2 years before the lump is large to feel. Mammogram is a kind of x-ray for checking your beast.
As the cancer is denser than the other parts of the breast, mammogram can be used to detect the cancer. A radiologist can find out the cancer or breast problems by looking at the x-rays.
A mammogram is performed by slowly pressing the x-ray against your breast until you feel some pressure. The pressure is used for taking a better x-ray. It may take less than 20 minutes to complete this process. It will be uncomfortable and your breast can tender less at this time.
Childhood cancer is really a threat, but don’t worry this is relatively rare.
The cells grow out of control, develop abnormal sizes and shapes, ignore their typical boundaries inside the body, destroy their neighbor cells, and can ultimately spread (or metastasize) to other organs and tissues; this is the process of all kinds of cancer, including childhood cancer or child cancer.
As the cancer cells grow, they use more of the body’s nutrition. This dreadful disease takes a child’s strength, weakens a child’s defenses against other illnesses and destroys organs and bones.
Among all age groups, the most common childhood cancers are brain cancer, leukemia and lymphoma. The incidence of osteosarcoma (bone cancer) increases as children enter their teen years. The sites of cancer are different for each type,as are treatment and cure rates.
Factors such as smoking or exposure to environmental toxins, which cause cancer in adults usually, are not the same factors that may cause childhood cancer or child cancer.
Rarely, there may be an increased risk of childhood cancer in children who have a genetic condition, such as Down syndrome.
The skin cancer treatment depends up on the type of skin cancer you have. General health, age, the size and type on your body is taken into account by the doctor.
The skin cancer treatment includes the surgery, cryotherapy, cautery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Skin cancer treatment by surgery is a simple operation done under local anesthesia in the doctor’s room. The skin cancer is cut from the small area from the normal skin. Stitches are given to close the wound.
Skin grafts are used to cover the wound that is made by the removal of large skin. For this purpose, a layer of skin is taken from other part of your body and placed over the wound.
After the operation the wound will be left undisturbed for many days as it is covered with the dressing. The dressing is done on the other area from where the skin is taken.
The pain relief may be prescribed by the doctor if you have pain and feel uncomfortable. There is a risk of having scarring, infection and haematoma.
Cryotherapy is method of treating the skin cancer or solar keratosis that is small and not deep by freezing. For freezing, the liquid nitrogen is placed over the cancer. It can lead to burning or stinging feeling.
Lymphatic cancer or Lymphoma is also called the cancer of the immune system.
It is the seventh most common form of cancer in the UK.
In UK there are thousands of new cases of Lymphatic cancer or lymphoma or Hodgkin’s disease every year and it is most likely to be diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40.
Unknown Cause! The cause of the disease is unknown, but there is some evidence that it may be caused by the same virus that causes glandular fever.
As the disease involves the lymphatic system, a system of glands (lymph nodes) and vessels that run throughout the body manufacturing and circulating lymph and other components of the immune system, it is called the lymphatic cancer or lymphoma. The lymph is a pale fluid through which white blood cells travel.
There are two main divisions of lymphatic cancer or lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). Both of them are distinguished by the different types of white blood cells that they affect.
Symptoms are similar but affect different sections of the population and have different outcomes. Hodgkin’s disease is considered as a disease of young and middle-aged adults. Good News! It is largely curable with treatment.
The leukemia is of two kinds: acute leukemia and chronic leukemia.
In acute leukemia, there are abnormal blood cells and these abnormal cells number increases rapidly.
Chronic leukemia has no symptoms and the abnormal blood cells function normally. When the number of blood cells increases, then the symptoms occur.
Acute leukemia is caused due to some risk factors but the exact cause is still unknown. High levels of radiation can cause high risk when you are exposed to them.
Some chemicals like formaldehyde and benzene are used in chemical industry. You are mostly affected with leukemia when you work in these industries.
Chemotherapy is used to treat cancer but the alkylating agents are involved in the development of leukemia. Down syndrome is the genetic disease that leads to leukemia.
Leukemia travels through out the body like the blood cells. You may have certain symptoms that include
- Loss of weight
- Head ache
- Infections that occur frequently
- Night sweats or fever
- Feeling tired or weak
- Pains in the joints or bones
- Easy bruising and bleeding
- Lymph nodes in the armpit or neck swollen
- Discomfort or swelling in abdomen
