Study Says Aspirin Cuts Death Risk For Colon Cancer Patients

U.S. researchers said, taking aspirin not only keeps colon cancer from coming back, but it also can lower the death risk for patients.

Using aspirin in low doses daily can prevent the occurrence of heart attacks and strokes, as well as avoid pains and aches.

The new study, published in the journal of American Medical Association, shows it can prevent colon cancer deaths.

Dr. Andrew Chan of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston and colleagues studied aspirin use in 1,279 men and women with colon cancer that had not spread to other parts of the body.

The research team found that people who took aspirin regularly after the diagnosis of the disease were nearly 30 percent less likely to die from colon cancer than people who did not take aspirin.
