Beans are really good for health, so 1 or 2 servings per day is suggested. This might initially cause discomfort in the gastrointestinal tract but it becomes fine later. Include beans in everything from soups to salads to pizza for a huge fiber boost. This will really work!
Distribute the consumption of nuts over a week. They are a great source of fiber and another form of monounsaturated fats.
Servings more than 9 per day of fruits and vegetables are a must. This sounds too much but is definitely affordable. Initially start with 5 servings per day and later go up to 9 servings.

Getting nine servings a day doesn’t happen by accident; it takes thought and planning. So aim for three servings at each meal plus fruit or veggie snacks each day.

- Citrus fruit: oranges, grapefruit
- Berries: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries
- Cruciferous veggies: broccoli, broccoli sprouts, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower
- Lycopene-rich produce: tomatoes, red grapefruit, watermelon, guava
- Beta-carotene-rich produce: winter squash, carrots, sweet potatoes
- Dark green, leafy veggies: spinach, romaine, kale, collards, Swiss chard
