Lifestyle Changes May Prevent Cancer

With world cancer day just gone past, much deliberation on cancer prevention took place and experts have opined that in many cases cancer is possible to prevent.

By virtue of lifestyle changes and avoiding certain infections, cancer can in fact be avoided.

Vaccines can help prevent cancer: For instance getting the HPV vaccine can help to prevent cervical cancer and the Hepatitis B vaccine can help to prevent cancer of the liver.

According to BBC health channel, the following lifestyle changes can significantly slash cancer risk; perhaps by as much as two thirds:

  • Giving up smoking and avoiding inhalation of second hand smoke
  • Limiting alcohol use
  • Eating healthy – plenty of fruits and vegetables
  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Reducing sun exposure
