How Broccoli Fights Against Cancer

Cell division is a natural phenomenon inside body. Cells keep on dividing, and when they grow old, they die. 2. Protects surrounding cells

Cancer cells are invasive in nature. They affect surrounding healthy cells and subsequently form a tumour. Sulforaphane in broccoli protects the healthy cells from the invasion of abnormal cancer cells.

3. Activates cancer-suppressing genes

Our body naturally has genes which suppress any possibility of cancer formation. Due to external factors, these genes couldn’t supress cancer cells. Sulforaphane compound activates these genes to stop the growth of cancer cells.

4. Suppress the growth of cancer cells

Broccoli has a compound known as indole-3-carbinol. Cancer cells are known for their rapid growth. Studies have shown that this compound suppresses the rapid growth of cancer cells.

5. Reduce breast cancer promoters

Broccoli reduces estrogen metabolite 16alpha-hydroxyestrone, which is a compound which promotes breast cancer.

6. Boost immunity

Broccoli is also high in vitamin C, which boosts body’s immunity. Hence, it helps against fighting cancers cells.

When a cancer patient goes through rigorous medication and therapies, his body is affected by these a lot. There are some cancer cells which aren’t affected at all by medication, but other healthy cells do get affected by it. Hence, it is become even more important to include nutrition, anti-cancer foods in our diet.
