The prostate cancer and prostatic hypertrophy can lead to difficulty in urination as the urethra is pressed by them.

Metastatic prostate cancer or locally advanced prostate cancer has no symptoms sometimes. But some of the symptoms of prostate cancer that you can notice are:

  • Urine containing blood
  • Waking up at nights to urinate
  • Burning feeling or pain while urination
  • Sometimes there is a problem during urination at starting of the urine stream or having low stream or not able to urinate.
  • Having stiffness in the upper thighs, lower back, hips or having deep pain.

Some of the symptoms of metastatic prostate cancer are:

  • Weight loss
  • Swelling in the feet and leg
  • Pain in the bone.

Exams to cure prostate cancer include the digital rectal exam in which a gloved lubricated finger is put into your rectum to feel the prostate gland. Prostate- specific antigen test is used to find out whether the prostate cancer has come back or it is prostate cancer.

Biopsy is a test in which a sample of tissue is taken from your prostate or the area spread with cancer. Then this sample is sent to the lab for further testing. This is the only way to know about the prostate cancer.

Certain medications are used to relieve the symptoms and slow down the growth of prostate cancer. Some of the medications include: Goserelin (Zoladex) and leuprolide (Lupron) are the drugs used in hormone therapy.

The drugs used in chemotherapy are Estramustine Docetaxel, Etoposide and paclitaxel.

So, the advanced prostate cancer can be detected by the tests and can be cured by drugs and medications.
